Today, Ron Paul and Barney “Worst Democrat in Congress” Frank proposed legislation to legalize mary jane.
In Washington, if you missed the front of the Seattle Times today, the state is conducting hearings on the same topic (and Johnny McKay, a good family friend of ours, is heading the charge along with Rick Steves, travel guru/weirdo)…
What is going to happen????? Probably not much. But this is a HUGE step. What has not been on the table for serious discussion since 1936 is becoming considered a mainstream and reasoned view. So there is hope! It isn’t as if my life will change, but the system will. I wonder how many men’s lives have been taken from them as they are put in a cage their entire lives for possession of a certain amount of a plant, and how this will affect drug cartel violence in the U.S. in the future.
I am curious to see how we will get around the Geneva Convention for the Suppression of the Illicit Traffic in Dangerous Drugs and about 15 other treaties, but HEY, whatever. Like we have ever cared about those (see: torture)..
[I don’t say “I told you so,” because that is annoying. But why in the world is it that Ron Paul is vindicated over and over again on a wide spectrum of issues? OKAY, I’LL STOP WITH THE RON PAUL. (RONPAUL2012!)]
This is a great idea. High time to decriminalize marijuana usage – save taxpayer money by freeing non-violent offenders from prison, lower the price of marijuana, reduce associated crime…what's not to like? Unless you are some kind of control freak who wants to impose your personal views on all of society, that is.
Ain't it the truth?
