Yesterday I posted a lecture proclaiming that an ignorance of economics could constitute a moral issue for a Christian. Today, I would like to allow Tom Woods to elaborate on Catholicism & economics – and why many theologians and ordained have been simply incorrect about the province of economics and what is involved therein. This is a topic I have wanted to blog about for some time – about how sound economics is akin to natural law, and a violation of them (though may not ipso facto a violation of the moral law) is a violation of the natural order. Commodity money, for example, as a foundation of an economy, would make sense in a creator-given world (in a way that leaves our paper substitutes looking much like any cheap imitation of God’s creative function). Tom Woods, highly esteemed and extremely intelligent, will do a better job anyway at discussion of these issues. I highly recommend picking up his book The Church & the Market. The following articles are long, but in many senses foundational to understanding why economics is a moral issue in many respects, but is also akin to an a priori philosophical framework in others…
Enjoy.
