Many people believe Obamacare, or any government takeover of healthcare, to be good for the poor and good for the state of medicine. Economic reality is very much decided in the other way – when you force more people on to a limited supply yet require people to buy it, the quality will go down and prices will go up.
If one were, say, a conspiracy theorist, or at least didn’t believe the government always had a benevolent reason for doing something, one might think that the government did these things as a cost control, and in pursuit of the secular ideals that governments always are. But no one would seriously think that Obamacare is going to shorten anyone’s lifespan or push up anyone’s costs. Conspiracies are for nut jobs that don’t believe every word the state has to utter. So let’s just stop talking about it.
