A fellow blogger posted a portion of this article by Thomas Sowell (about this nation’s love of underdogs), but I thought the whole thing was worth putting up, especially since it is relevant to the firestorm I started yesterday involving race… In addition to the article, there is a video on point…:
Yet more proof Asians are smarter than everyone else:
Why is the wedding ring worn on the fourth finger?:
Is this really why?!
Neil deGrasse on Intelligent Design:
I love how civil political discussion can be these days:
Thank God the republicans are such assholes, otherwise they might have more constituents….
Here are some other things:
- 545 people are responsible for all of the problems in today’s USA
- Race is the all-purpose tool employed by the media to justify governmental interference in our lives.
- I would call Glenn Beck bipolar, but that would be an insult to those with a real medical condition. The guy is so off the wall, up and down, that not even his viewers can understand him nor enemies can keep him in their sights.
- I probably don’t agree with a fat tax, because it is just another way for the government to take our money. But at what point do citizens need protection from themselves?
I also heard an interesting thought on the idea that insurance companies will be unable to reject customers for preexisting conditions under the new government plan. The ramifications of such a policy (even though it sounds good and ‘fair’ on its face), would be analogous to life insurance companies not being able to refuse buyers, even after a beneficiary has died. Should I be able to go out and buy a million dollar life insurance on my grandpa after he dies? Or fire insurance after my house burns down? How would that cost be balanced by the company to produce any semblance of a business model that can survive? It doesn’t make any sense, and I have only heard one guy point that out so far, because it ‘sounds good’!
