Obama is a dream politician. I can’t imagine the establishment ever thought he would pull the wool so fully over so many people’s eyes, standing for exactly the same policies as the last guy but looking like a suave gentleman all the while. He makes tyrants of old look positively boorish.
But Obama has nothing on Vlad Putin. Putin was forged in the belly of the newspeak doublethink beast. The government of Russia has no modern equivalent in the way it has historically deceived its people – methodically, subtly, and completely. The US may approach in the level of misinformation it puts out, but our secrecy and half-truth is laughably adolescent compared to the way it is done in Mother Russia.
It seems in the game of chess that is this Syria confrontation, Putin is a queen. Obama, on the other hand, is starting to resemble a pawn…
Best (& most true) quote:
My working and personal relationship with President Obama is marked by growing trust. I appreciate this. I carefully studied his address to the nation on Tuesday. And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.” It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation.
