Not to be a Negative Nancy, but I have always found the rudimentary technological advances humans have made and level of control we have managed to exert over our environment to be laughable. Humans really are not very intelligent, either individually or in the collective. But we think we are. And one of the ramifications of our collective pride is technocracy, or the thought that legal positivism and science mean that central planning for the whole world can be done, and done well. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Very scattered, this article was one I thought would be worth a post today, when we are seeing the incompetence of those supposedly brightest among us who can barely control the floodgates of scandal after scandal. Technocrats truly are a ridiculous bunch, but those who wish to control not only nature, but the choices of each and every human being permeate every level of political and social thinking. Control will not be had, in the end, and that is why God is so far beyond the human understanding. It is one thing to crudely fumble with your surroundings believing that your manipulations are a full display of knowing it all. It is entirely another to be able to Create from the Void. But how long will it take us to learn that control is beyond humanity forever – and how many people will die and resources be wasted in our noticing the fact?
