The Constitution, as you well know, is being whittled away with justifications ringing from causes abroad. The NDAA is one way. At home, though, are ways in which the criminal law is being formed not to a semblance of justice and deserving a fair trial, but to the government for the sake of “safety.” The problem with ideas such as “safety” are that they are indefinite enough to consume any and all economic and moral resources to their end. There is no limit to how safe we can be on the road, for example, to the point that we could all be required to drive tanks at less than 5 MPH. The economic practicality of the matter, however, makes such a situation ridiculous. The freedom of the matter is even more incalculable.
The linked article explains how, in the presence of yet more typical do-gooder lobbying, the Constitution is being subverted from within, and it is just as much of a threat as the leaps and bounds being taken by those intent on protecting us from without. The article can be found here.
