This idiot is bad for the Church. I don’t know if he simply doesn’t think before he speaks, or if he is just a Neo-Con shill for Radical Protestantism, but his constant right-slant makes for a god of religion, not a religion of God. Religion is as a finger pointing to the moon. The finger is not the matter that concerns us; it is the moon we should concentrate on. The Vortex tends to state things 75% correctly, and always on a slant promoting a political agenda before a religious. Unfortunately for Mr. Voris, things are not always as black-and-white as he sees them, ESPECIALLY within the lens of the Catholic Church. Don’t understand why the Church is in decline in the Western world? Ham-fisted reflections on culture that divide and condemn the sinners in totality (as opposed to “hating the sin, loving the man”) will lead to rejection every time. I know everyone can’t be like Fr. Barron of WordOnFire, but someone could at least tell this clown to shut up before he does more damage to the Church. Someone else take him, please. Bill Donahue too…
I don't much care for Voris or Donahue myself.
Though Donahue does have an awesome that was noted by Greg Kandra at the Deacon's Bench here.
The trouble with Voris is that even when he says harsh things, even if they're sometimes wrong, it's hard to know why they're wrong or even, sometimes, to disagree intuitively. I'll gladly join you in telling him to shut up as long as we can extend that invitation to Maureen Dowd.
It should have been titled "With friends like these, who needs enemies?"
Ha. You kidding? As far as I am concerned, Dowd can't even call herself Catholic, much less speak for the Church. Same applies to the leftists who sacrifice deontological ethics for a base utilitarianism of "compassion" and sacrifice of tradition in pursuit of trend and "acceptance." How's that for a controversial pronouncement?
I agree though; sometimes it is hard to see exactly what is missing or incorrect about those two's rantings. I just wish the Church had better mouthpieces in America, for the most part. Then again, Donahue does deserve a little credit – always defending the Church from the malicious and sometimes even flagrantly false media coverage that it gets would be a tired game that would lead any sane man to exasperated utterance every once in a while. Still, this is the best we can do?
I'll check that link in a bit. Time to study up. Thanks Dan.
