A Huffington Post column is titled “Lawmakers Who Cut Funds For ALS Research Take Ice Bucket Challenge For ALS Research.” One of the last things I want to be doing is defending politicians who make their living on the backs of others. But there is a very occasional good choice made in D.C., one that takes power out of the hands of those who pay no consequences for making the wrong decisions, and puts them back in the hands of people deserving of credit for their charitableness and choices. It is clear, from columns like these, that many people will never understand this concept. Yes, HuffPo, they did cut funds, seeking to put choice back into the hands of the people – that is exactly the point. That this action is taken as an automatic strike against them leaves much to be desired in the realm of thoughtfulness…
